You are here: Africa Media Online > Media > Training > The Digital Campus > Introduction

The Shutha Digital Campus is for media professionals. It is for photographers, designers, picture editors, picture researchers and anyone working with images professionally. It aims to give an in-depth understanding of digital imaging and how to work with and deliver images at a professional standard. It also aims to give you the tools to build a digital archive that is accessible and will last beyond your lifetime. Finally, for photographers, it aims at enabling you to understand markets for your work so you can create multiple income streams and be sustained as a professional.

The Shutha Digital Campus is based on an online resource for media professionals working with images in the Majority World that Africa Media Online created in collaboration with World Press Photo called Shutha.org.

The Shutha Digital Campus 2013 will be run from 2-13 April 2013 at Michaelhouse in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. The Digital Campus has been run in some form most years since 2005. This year, in response to input from participants last year, we have significantly expanded the Campus.

The Shutha Digital Campus is being run in parallel with the Heritage Digital Campus for heritage practitioners. The two weeks of learning will be complimented by two documentary festivals, DocuFest Africa is a documentary photography and archives festival and Encounters is a documentary film festival.
